Here's a brief introduction to some of the characters who work in the Blue Building. 

  • Ian Billington | Managing Partner
    Following 12 years of brand and business management from Cadbury Schweppes PLC to divisional board Marketing Director at Bulmer's by the age of 30, Ian has been a brand building leader for over 3 decades.

    Ian believes that brand owners need (and increasingly want) superior channel specialists coupled with a truly holistic approach incorporating both media and commercial solutions. This is purposeful creativity, and it is how we make brands matter.
  • Paul Cartmell | Managing Partner
    Over 30 years marketing experience beginning with 12 years marketing management for Cadbury, Britvic and SmithKline Beecham building major brands in the UK and around the world. Founded Billington Cartmell in 1991 and has jointly led the agency for the past 18 years, creating integrated marketing campaigns for many blue chip companies including GlaxoSmithKline, Nestle, Unilever, Kraft, Tui, Diageo, Mazda
  • Jason Nicholas | Managing Director
    Joined the agency in 1998 as Business Development Director after a 10 year career in brand management at both Coca-Cola and Guinness; latterly as Marketing Controller UK. Appointed Managing Director of BCL in 2001, Jason is an active practitioner on a number of our clients and is a main board director of the BCL Group.

    Married with one child, he remains unashamedly stranded in the 80’s regarding his music taste, hopelessly devoted to Derby County FC and is partial to a pint or two of the black stuff.
  • Beri Cheetham | Executive Creative Director
    Both a pioneer of, and specialist in, generating truly integrated campaigns. Approachable, collaborative, commercial and a highly driven problem solver - Beri’s creative journey began aged five when he was taken into FCB’s creative department by his father, a planner. You might say 31 years experience isn’t bad for a 36 year old. He’s worked both in the UK and America winning awards for his work in virtually every marketing discipline.
  • Alex Young | Director
    17 years integrated marketing experience, 6 years with Billington Cartmell. Alex’s career has been built at leading ATL, DM and promotional agencies. Relevant experience includes Orange, Unilever, GSK and Sky.
  • Simon Callender | Creative Planning Director
    15 years working in both creative and account handling roles. Particular specialism in FMCG and retail. Clients include Green & Black’s, Morrisons, Nestle, Cadbury, Unilever, GSK and Mazda.
  • Adrian Thomas | Director
    Over 18 years integrated marketing experience,working with some the UK’s leading retail brands on their communicationand promotional strategy - Sainsbury’s, LloydsTSB, Tesco, Esso,Threshers,Signet Group and for the past 2 years Morrisons.
  • Eamonn Newell | Business Director
    Nearly 20 years marketing experience gained through an equal weighting of client side experience with Diageo and Moet Hennessy before curiosity tempted Eamonn to Billington Cartmell almost 10 years ago. Eamonn’s integrated experience includes Diageo, United Biscuits, Colgate-Palmolive, Rachel’s Organic and The COI.
  • Tim Morrow | Finance Director
    12 years of finance in the Media sector. Tim trained at KPMG's Media Business Unit, had a brief spell in publishing, went on to head up the finance team at John Brown (magazine marketing agency) then joined BCL in early 2007.
